Creating the Brand for a zero-waste world company

Today I filled out a form to ensure that Mafe, the communications manager of my Company, Realixo, can participate in a Branding course with Fabian Geyrhalter (FINIEN).

To his question: What is the name of your startup, how far along are you, and pitch us why your startup will be all-around awesome! The more impact it is capable of having the better.

I answered: Realixo aims to create a zero-waste world through circular, ethical, and sustainable economies.

Realixo is the result of my 37 years of life: the knowledge that I would not have worked for a company that only wants to maximize profits, university studies in Economics and Business Management, the master in Green Economy, the year I spent doing the farmer in Tuscany, the six years worked in communication for Greenpeace, the years of advertising production, love affairs, traveling. EVERYTHING, like pieces of a single puzzle.

Realixo is born to help solve a problem that doesn’t allow many people worldwide to be completely happy: waste.

I will not tell here the significant problem of waste: it is evident to you who are reading, even if only in broad terms.

Instead, I want to tell you why we will be able to contribute significantly, from now to the next 100 years, to solve the problem.

We believe that modern science, technology, and the wisdom of local and native communities, together, can create other economic systems capable of solving this problem. And, in addition to this, achieve the full employment, progress, and happiness of all the people.

We want to involve people who already feel the need for a more sustainable lifestyle, allowing them, thanks to technology, to make this dream possible. How? Through a research work of local realities that already produce products with a low environmental impact and that treat workers, animals, and the local eco-system ethically.

We want to create an “Amazon” that sells only local, ethical and sustainable products through an App.

We also want to allow our clients to sell to their neighbors the goods they have at home that they no longer want. And if none of the neighbors want that specific product in the next ten days, we take it upon ourselves to donate it, have it recycled, or sell it to a second-hand store.

Have you ever had this doubt while buying or throwing a product in the bin: is this packaging recyclable or not? Don’t worry; you are not alone! It is a persistent doubt. For this reason, in the App, we want to include a function that allows, through the mobile phone camera, to frame the barcode of a product and tell you if, in the place where you are, it is recyclable or not. This function will also be helpful to you when you are traveling and, when choosing accommodation, you will choose one that is our client. So wherever you go, you can use this handy App. Ah, don’t worry: the technology already exists, and we are in contact with the Italian startup that developed it to implement it in our App ;)

We also want to give our customers the opportunity to make small and large donations to the homeless or the poor who live in the neighborhoods where we will be present. The poor and homeless, who will receive donations through a plastic card with a QR-Code, will allow them to buy products to eat, a place to sleep, and other necessities through shops and organizations, our partners. Not with “common” money with which they can also buy products that do them no good (and that sometimes discourage people from donating). So: no alcohol and drugs through the money our customers will donate to them. And no commissions on these donations, of course!

We will take care of the logistics through electric vehicles with a photovoltaic panel on the roof.

Lots of ideas, products, and services to create, you might think. And you are entirely correct! But where to start?

We will start with what hurts the most to the many people who are begging us to start operations and to us: current solid waste management.

After validating the idea of the first MVP we want to offer, we are organizing operations in the first district of the first city where we received the most requests: San Paulo in Brazil. Operations commencement date: May 30th, 2022, the last new moon of the month.

Ah, I almost forgot to tell you what this first service (the MVP) is: a separate collection service for organic and recyclable waste at a popular price.

Here you can find the landing page. We are working on the new institutional website, which will be online on February 28th.

https://www.realixo.com/

It is in Portuguese, but soon there will also be an English version and in (almost) all languages of the world over the years!

After Brazil, we want to go to other countries, starting with India.

Ps. This App will cost (a bit like Amazon Prime), and unfortunately, not all people will take advantage of the benefits. But the App for children with environmental education games will be free for everyone. Forever.
